Formed in 2007 in Chicago by sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, Krewella is a pioneering dance music duo and one of the few independent, woman-fronted, Pakistani-American artists in dance music.
One of the most successful electronic acts of this decade, Krewella first made an impact with their self-released chart-topping debut EP ‘Play Hard’ (2012), featuring the breakthrough single “Killin’ It.” Their 2013 era-defining debut album, ‘Get Wet,’ featured the platinum hit “Alive,” the latter of which has amassed +125M plays collectively. Elsewhere, their 2016 ‘Ammunition’ EP has garnered +20M total plays.
In June 2017, Krewella launched their own Mixed Kids Records label, named after their multiracial background, with the release of their ‘New World Pt. 1’ EP, featuring “Team.” As their first major release as independent artists, the track and EP both landed on Billboard’s dance and electronic charts.
Recently, Krewella has expanded their sound to encompass a wider range of styles—trap, Bollywood, pop, R&B—and explore deeper themes of mixed ethnic identity, liberated sexuality, and creative experimentation. Their highly anticipated new music will broaden their independent spirit and worldly approach to art.
Featured on Forbes’ annual 30 Under 30 list in 2016, Krewella has performed at major global music festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, and many others, in addition to their headlining tours. krewella.com
